Getting Here From the District
The drive
About 35 to 40 minutes from downtown Washington via I-66 West or the Dulles Toll Road. For the many DC workers who already live in Northern Virginia, the studio is on the way home rather than a trip into town.
The parking
Free and on site. Compare that with a District garage or a two-hour meter that runs out halfway through a session.
Your workday
Standard hours are Monday to Friday, 9 to 5, and early-morning or end-of-day times can be arranged on request. A telework day or a late start usually covers it.
Coming from work
Wear what you wear to the office and bring one alternative on a hanger. For colors and fabrics that read well on a small screen, see my guide to what to wear.
Can You Come to My DC Office?
For an individual LinkedIn headshot, no, and that is on purpose. The studio already has the lighting, backdrops, and privacy that make a nervous person relax, which is hard to recreate in a conference room with colleagues walking past the glass.
For a whole team, yes. I bring a portable studio to offices across the District so everyone on your staff page matches. That is a separate service with its own pricing; see corporate headshots in Washington, DC or request a team quote.
Not a fan of being photographed? Most of my clients aren’t.
Direction instead of guesswork
You will not be told to “just act natural.” I set your posture and angle for you with guided posing, so all you have to do is follow along.
Expression, one take at a time
A meeting face and a camera face are different skills. I coach you through every expression, from a quiet half smile to a full laugh, and we keep the one that looks most like you.
Approve as we go
Each frame appears on a monitor during the session. You see what is working before you leave, not in an email a week later.
Plenty of confident professionals dread a camera. That is the session I am built for.
How Your Headshot Looks on LinkedIn
Three client portraits, each at one of the sizes LinkedIn puts in front of people.

When a recruiter clicks
Hiring managers, clients, and future colleagues in this city check your profile before a first meeting. This is the photo they meet first.

Under your comments
Shrunk to a thumbnail beside every comment you leave, a sharp, well-lit face still reads as the person you are.

In a long list of names
Search results and attendee lists are crowded. A clear, current photo is how people recognize you when you walk in.
Your Session, Start to Finish
Reserve a time that fits your week
Pick your session on the rates page and book online, or ask for an early or end-of-day slot. A prep guide arrives after you book.
Make the drive out
Head out I-66 West or the Dulles Toll Road and park free at the studio. Leave the work phone in your bag for a while.
Get directed, not posed
Sessions run from 30 minutes up to 90 minutes, depending on which one you choose. I guide every angle and expression, and we check the results together on screen.
Pick your favorites from home
Proofs land in a private online portal. You choose the images your package includes, and the retouched versions arrive in 7 to 10 business days, ready for LinkedIn.
Curious about the details? Here is what a headshot session is like.
Pricing Without the Guesswork
Sessions start at $595.
Packages differ by the number of retouched images and the time and wardrobe planning included. You can see each one, with current availability, on the rates page before you commit to anything.
See Rates and Book“Marquel was absolutely amazing during my headshot session! As someone who gets nervous when taking formal portraits, I knew that I needed a professional photographer who would not only capture a great headshot, but would also make the session feel as comfortable as possible. Marquel went above and beyond my expectations! I felt completely at ease and Marquel produced what I can only describe as my favorite headshots ever. I highly recommend Marquel Yvette Photography for your professional headshots!”Senita BeverlyGoogle review
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
The studio in South Riding (Chantilly), VA is about 35 to 40 minutes from downtown Washington via I-66 West or the Dulles Toll Road. If you live in Northern Virginia, it may well be closer to home than your office.
Studio hours are Monday to Friday, 9 to 5. Early-morning or end-of-day times can be arranged on request, so ask when you book if your workday makes the standard hours hard.
Individual LinkedIn sessions take place at the studio, where the lighting, backdrops, and quiet are already set up. If your whole team needs new photos, I bring a portable studio to DC offices for team sessions; request a team quote for that.
Right outside. Parking at the studio is free, so there is no garage ticket, no meter, and no circling the block before your session.
Often that is the easiest plan. The suit jacket or blazer you wear to work usually photographs well. Bring one more top or tie on a hanger so we have a choice, and leave the lanyard and badge in the car.
Your Side of the Commute
Trade a downtown photo shoot for a calmer one.
Book a session on a day that works around the office, park for free, and leave with a LinkedIn photo you are happy to put your name next to.
